Dr. Dario Slejko, born in Trieste (Italy) on
August 1, 1949 and gratuated in Mathematics at the
Trieste University in 1979

He has been working at Osservatorio Geofisico Sperimentale of Trieste since 1972: first as
seismologist of the WWSSN station, then as researcher in seismology and
engineering seismology and presently as research director
|
|
·
|
His main fields of interest
are: regional seismicity, seismotectonics, seismic hazard, and seismic
risk. His activity is documented in over hundred papers in Italian and
international scientific journals
|
|
·
|
He is director of the Italian
C.N.R.'s "Gruppo Nazionale
di Geofisica della
Terra Solida" and member of the Executive
Committee of the European Seismological Commission (ESC)
|
|
·
|
He was chairman of the
sub-commission "Engineering Seismology" of the ESC, member of the
scientific board of the Italian C.N.R.'s "Gruppo
Nazionale per la Difesa
dai Terremoti", of
the Seismic Commission of the Veneto Region, of the Civil Protection
Commission of the same Regione Veneto, of the EC
working group "Seismological and earthquake damage data", and
teacher of some courses at the Udine, Padova, and Pavia universities

He partecipated
to the international geophysical expedition in the Sumbawa island for the
study of the Indonisian Arc, to the international
geophysical study of the Black Sea, and to the field data collection and
interpretation after the 1980 Irpinia earthquake
|

He was one of the experts of
the Pegasos project and one of the reviewers of
the Italian seismic hazard map 2004
|
